Rod Bearing Questions

So I got new rods and pistons. Nothing wrong with the old bearings. Im building the engine to run as a daily at 550hp. Can I reuse yhe old bearings? I still have them in the original order. Or should i get new new bearings?

Put new bearing in, no point of trying to reusing old bearings.

Gotcha. I was going to get kong bearings. Ive also heard of people getting 2 sets and matching up the closest sizes. Thoughts?

King or ACL is a personal preference from what I've seen. I'm not too sure about the amount of sets you need to get the clearance extremely close to each other. Maybe a builder on here can answer that question for you.

Make sure to check and set clearances. For 550whp you'll want to be on the loose end of factory spec, or a touch looser.

Rod Bearing Condition

Hello. I was hoping I could get some input on the condition of these bearings and get a rough assessment of the cranks life through that. The top pic is the cylinder closest to the transmission, in order to the pull side of the engine. (Back to front??) TIA

Definitely looks like some "out of service" bearing wear
Looks like some pitting & abrasive wear if im looking at these pics correctly?

What prompted you to perform the tear down?
What are the basic crank & bearing specs?

I broke the head. So upgrading the rods and pistons while its apart. These are also the oem bearings. My thought was that cuz pitting is inconsistent that that might be due to poor oil condition or crap in the oil. But im no expert lol. Not sure on the specs off hand.

Oh, so those are the OEM pistons, rods & bearings?

How many miles?

What type of tune was on that motor?

Yes all oem internals from 2003. There was a street tune for about 450hp-475ish but it didnt get pushed for too many miles before i broke the head. (Not due to driving issues Me breaking the head was a silly me thing)

IIRC factory clearance is max of .002", a few ten thousandths looser is fine, .0022-.0023.

How many miles are on it? They look pretty decent as long there's some miles on them.

127k give or take a few k. I was talking to a shop in California about the bearings they use and have experiemce with and they suggested ACL are good rod bearings for getting one set and just in they go. That is on just a regular 3rd gen oem 7 bolt 4g63. Thus Y i was curious about others input as to the condition of my crank via the bearings cuz if I get good feeback given the condition and mileage then I'm just going to get the ACL's and just put em straight in.
