Evo 8 won’t start after head rebuild!

Correction, it wasn’t a head rebuild, more like a head swap. Had a Buschur stage 3, a valve spring broke and basically damaged the head beyond repair. Pistons remained untouched. Swapped my OEM head back on, salvaged the cams, all other valvetrain components are new. Everything was out back together, timing was triple checked, and the cars cranks but won’t run. It’ll turn over and start for a second, incredibly rough then immediately die. Almost don’t even consider it starting up, more like rolling over. Build is as follows:

OEM head
OEM cam gears
GSC R2s
GSC valves/springs/retainers
FIC 1450cc injectors
TSComp double pumper
2.3L Manley/Wiseco
CBRD BBK 3B
3” Invidia/Megan catless
Buschur BFIC
Spoolin-up COP
Fitronic Flex fuel - E85
Stock ECU

Timing has been checked over a dozen times. Emptied tank, put in fresh E85. Checked fuel pressure, checked spark, checked CEL codes, threw cam and crank position sensors codes, replaced both. New battery, checked starter grounding, checked compression and leak down test accomplished, check all connections, did a boost leak test, even checked oil and checked tune. Currently working with Tom at TSComp with the tune......we’re at a dead end. Any help would be appreciated.

make sure the cam angle sensor reluctor isn't 180 degrees off.

Was going to post same thing. This will make it not start.

Checked this as well, no dice. It’s worth mentioning that after replacing both sensors, it’s still throwing the same codes.

both sensors share a common ground, pin 40 of C-119 at the ECU. I would verify continuity between that ecu pin and both sensors. Its 90-34 through 90-35 in the factory service manual.

If those sensors are offline, no fuel and no spark.

Update: sensors replaced, no codes. Checked timing again, everything lines up. Checked all connections, rechecked injectors, everything looks good. It tries to turn over but when it does, it’s not strong at all. It sputters for a second before dying. I’ll post a video when I can.

After a few recent attempts, it starts up and runs good for a few seconds then immediately cuts off. Throws the same two codes: 0335, 0340. Checked both sensors for signal, both are good. About to change out the crank trigger plate (thanks for recommendation Tom).
