Unable to shift 6th gear ct9a evo 8 mr

Guys. Having this problem since last night. Unable to shift to 6th gear. My shifter cables are good so i opened up the gear consol and noticed this piece im pointing at connected to the gear lever.

1. Should there be a rubber bush which connects to the lever?
2. How do i adjust this as i noticed theres a screw. If i pull the canle by hand just a tiny bit the 6th gear is engaged. I need to be able to tighten this so there is no free play between the gear lever which connects to this plastic thing.

Well, for sure that plastic shift linkage end can not be sloppy around the post. If it is, it must be missing the bush

I think the part no. for the complete cable is MR580533 (double check part no.)

Managed to stiffen up the linkage. However it still would not engage 6th gear. The symptoms before this was the 6th gear feels gummy when i want to release it. Only yesterday it couldnt engage at all. Other symptoms would be hard to engage gears during high revs say around 6-8k.

Now that ive put a bush to stiffen it and when i sort of force it into 6th gear it goes into the reverse gear. Luckily i tried it when i was in stationery. What else would seem to be the cause though.

Hoping its not a trans synchro issue? After all, the 6 speeds tend to have a bit weaker synchro than the 5 speeds from what has been reported

If its the 6th gear syncro, can the replacement parts be purchased separately? Is the replacement straightforward if i were to take out the gearbox casing

From my chair i would leave the trans work to the Pros, but there are some & you maybe one that can do a rebuild?

Dont think you would just replace the 6th gear synchro. You would likely have them all replaced at the same time

If i were to get the 5 gear gb from evo 7/8, it should be plug n play right? What about the shifter cable, does it need to be replaced?
