What to buy?

I'm looking maybe to buy something for the EVO. I already have 3" custom catback(no muffler), CAI, Dejontool Intake pipe, TurboXS BOV(recirc). I want to stay happy with the warranty, meaning no MBC or piggyback computers.

So the two parts I'm narrowing it down to are a Nx Intercooler sprayer or a Custom Stainless steel tubed exhaust manifold. I have also thought about a 3" downpipe and a larger 3" cat, although I'm trying once again to timidly respect the warranty.

Any ideas? If anyone has Dyno information about the manifold that would be great, I spent the last hour searching thourgh threads on here looking for solid information and found nothing.

If you're concerned with warranty, why not get the XEDE or UTEC with wiring harness?

They use the factory boost solenoid and can literally be unplugged from the ECU in minutes for warranty purposes.

Otherwise, get a nice set of coilovers.

I'm happy with the stock suspension. I want some more power.

I want to keep my price below $600.

The manifold or downpipe should give you some decent power.

The intercooler sprayers only work when nitrous is used (Because some ends up being injested through the intake tract).

Honestly, you really should look to some sort of fuel control first. ECU+ or SAFC with patch harness could make some decent gains.

don't bother with the manifold honestly....they are not worth the price of admission IMHO.

If it were my car, first mod should eb a tubro back exhaust - there should be zero waranty concerns with such a piece.

From there, a decent form of boost control and some form of engien mgmt (what is the best choice depends how far you want to take the car)

I feel that if I buy anything I don't end up in te future wanting to have to buy a replacement product. I don't want to buy the same product twice, even if it is 5 years down the road.

I have a mufflershop 3" catback exhaust right now, I'm really happy with the noise level thus far. If I do a downpipe and a 3" high flow cat will I expect an increase in sound? Also should I look at also getting a downpipe with a new O2 housing?

I thought boost control would void a warranty. Correct me if I'm wrong though. would it be ok to take the boost controller to 20lbs solid and leave there, or do I need supporting fuel mods or a AFC style device for the EVO to handle it. I have 93/94 octane pump gas here so knock shouldn't be a concern.

Even if boost control voids the warranty you can remove it and set back to stock in very little time. MBC is were I would start if I were you. Or, if you don't allready have them, a good set of gauges (boost, egt, oil press). That and search. There is a ton of info for first mods in this forum. ;-)

Yep I have gauges, although why get an EGT if i'm not messing with an AFC or something. Should I set boost at 20psi?

You should be able to set it to 20psi farely safely. If your only after 20psi maybe you should consider a new fuel pump (Walbro 255) and a Dynoflash. That way you could up the boost to 20psi, with a safe taper. As long as your able to get 93 octane or better you should be fine.

-just some thoughts.
