Valve cover lock washers

Hey guys! So I’ve recently installed a valve cover dress up kit, but I didn’t reinstall the black lock washers on... do I really need those? TIA

They aren't 100% needed, but they help cushion and distribute the force along the bolt holes of the valve cover. If your valve cover is not cracked or leaking from the seal, I wouldn't bother with them until the next time you take it off for maintenance.
