Greddy Type S problems... slight leaking at idle and low throttle
awesome, yeah...i dont doubt all the guys with the single spring, i am just wondering if venting while idle is actually supposed to be happening. Just because i thought a BOV was supposed to hold shut at idle. Trust me, i have done lots of research and searching on this valve.
I am running both springs in mine with the adjustment screw half way down. It holds like a champ and no fluttering. I am running it on a buschur UIP. With both springs in Ive ran it up to 23 psi with some funny juice in the tank... No stalling issues either. With the greddy bov I tried what you said Eric with the one spring and all I got was leak and only holding capabitlity of up to 16-17psi. I might have a freak bov . Working great now no problems at all

ok, well driving home on the way to work today with the new Type S recirced single springed and so on, i was in 5th and decided to punch it, have noticed that my boost now likes to fluctuate up and down, also with it WOT...i was hitting full boost when all of a sudden my car started to jerk and felt weird for a second. Looked at the SAFCII after getting home and noticed my knock count in the 200's...its never been out of double digit knock counts until today. WTF happened.... also how can i tell if it is leaking boost?? or can i?? it vents off easy when building low boost, below 10psi, it lets a loud whistle back into the intake. If i WOT full boost, and shift or release the throttle then i cant really hear crap. I wonder if i need to put the other spring in as well or need to do some more adjusting on the screw with the single spring ??? Also did a run tonight on the way back from school, knock was in the 100's why would this bov change all this all a sudden with it recirced??? my adjustment?? can someone help me with all this??? thanks!!!!
93 civ... open bov at idle is normal, if you look at the design of the hks ssqbov it is open at idle cuz there's no boost to keep it closed. why would you need it closed at idle? are you making boost? are you needing to vent? neither... at idle yer turboed engine almost acts like an n/a engine so it doens't really matter.
so what is this leak you're talking about, it's leaking into the bov? like the bov is sucking air in (you say vacuum leak)? at idle there's nothing acting on the valve but the spring... and that's closing it, so how can it be open?
silver surfer is obviously advocating his one spring method cuz he's the one that made up the one spring method. if you guys don't like it... get an bov from rre cuz they have they own method and y'all prolly trust a road racing company over silver surfer on the internet right?
i still don't understand what is wrong with the ssqbov.... and why rre doesn't like it. i really can't find anything wrong with the system.
what's so bad about fluttering btw... as long as it's not during accel which would indicate that yer bov isn't staying closed? does flutter mean compressor surge...? what does compressor surge sound like?
i think people should be more descriptive when they say flutter.
