Motor Mounts??

Hey guys,

I'm in the process of completely rebuilding an evo 8 that i bought. What are everyone's thoughts on polyurethane mounts? I was looking at the torque solutions 4 pc set @ 75A hardness and the Megan racing 4pc set @ 70A hardness. Does anyone have experience with either of these products? How is the NVH with them? This isn't my daily driver and will only see 2-3k miles a year max, but I don't want my teeth rattling out of my head. Basically do you think they would be wife and 2yr old approved for a sunday cruise or should i stick with OEM? I am a little worried that the OEM mounts are going to get sloppy with the new 2.3l w/ my fully built race ported head (s2 cams) and fp red setup. thanks in advance

I would suggest doing the front motor mount only. It offers the most performance benefit over the other mounts. You don't want to turn it into a rattle trap or upset the factory knock sensor by doing all the motor mounts on a street car IMO

Yeah, been running the TS mounts for years. I installed only 3 of them (drivers side, pass side, roll stopper). Was told not install the rear trans mount as that really transmits the NVH

No negative issues at all!

Yeah, don't do the rear mount, that is where a lot of the NVH comes from. You want the driver and passenger side mounts, and the front roll stopper. Torque solutions is a good option. On my car I saved some money and just did the AMS inserts for the stock mounts.

I can attest to the advice already given. Bought my car with the front mount upgraded. No noticeable NVH whatsoever. Bought the other 3 mounts. Added the pass and driver side mounts shortly after, picked up a bit of vibes in the steering wheel but nothing intolerable. Installed the rear mount last and NVH went way up. Steering wheel vibes a good bit. Def not something I'd want to drive around on the street very long.
