Turbo Options

Hey guys. Im not really knowledgeable on all the different turbos out there. There's so many different brands to try and remember and or try not to buy. I was wanting your guys opinion on the best turbo suitable for around high 800-to upper 900 (around there) hp. I know that kind of power doesn't come with "fast spooling" but what would be your recommendations for quickest spooling while hitting those numbers?

Thx

Not really. The 6466 is on kill around 900. 6266 not even close.

If you over 900 more easily, 6870 is what you want.

Yeah def a 6870. What kinda power you seeing? Boost? And when are you hitting full boost?

Yeah a 6466 is gonna need all it has haha i was doing a little reading and people are saying the xona 9579s is a pretty badass 900hp turbo that spools fairly quick for its size. Anyone have any input on that?

Garrett G35-1050 in the 0.83 A/R turbine housing. What displacement engine? If you're 2.2L, you'll probably be around 3.75 pressure ratio where it can do 85lbs/min. You could over spin it a bit. but this is at the edge.

I've been talking with my engine builder and he says he really likes the 6766. He built and tuned one in the area and he made around 930whp and hit full boost around 5700rpm. Alot of people on here don't like the 6766 for some reason.
I also have the sheepey ff vband manifold so i wanna stick with it. And people have been saying that a 6870 needs to be paired with a TS on a 2.0L. So my best options (if I go with pte) would be the gen2 6466, close to 50psi or the 6766.

You could've ran a 6870, spooled faster, made more power.

I mentioned that to him and he says when he first tuned the evo it had a 6870 and he wasn't impressed at all. Its also on a 2.0L without the twin scroll. Its just a sheepey ff vband. I just told him my goal was anywhere in the 850-950 range with the best spooling available. Gen2 6466 on kill would get me there.

Sounds like fake news. The 6466 way out spools and makes very similar power to the 6766. And the 6870 hardly spools slower than the 6466 and makes about another 100hp.

The 6766 is old 6+6 blade compressor tech that precision started phasing out around 2012-2014 with the new Gen2 aero that the 6466 and 6870 has. They didn't make a gen2 aero 6766 for a reason.
