Evo 8 turbo on Evo 9

Long story short. My Evo 9 was hit in the passenger quarter panel and Mitsubishi has discontinued making the quarter panel and Lancershop is out of stock it sounds like insurance is going to total the car. I’m going to start to put the car back to stock but I sold my stock Evo 9 turbo but found a Evo 8 local to me. Wondering if that will fit?

An 8 turbo will work for sure if you get all 4 lines(2 coolant, 2 oil) and the J-pipe. You may not need all the lines, but i think 1 or 2 of them are different from the 8 to the 9 turbo.

for what its worth...i bought a evo 9 that had an evo 8 turbo on it.

replaced it with an evo 9 turbo and didnt have to change any of the coolant or oil lines... so i would just assume they are the same.

Yeah. The 8 turbo have the smaller compressor housing, you don't need to change anything except maybe the compressor outlet pipe of it won't reach the LICP. But if the car is total led and you're letting them take, just figure it out, longer coupler or whatever lol

I've heard others say they are interchangeable as well. Might just need to tweak them a bit to fit.
Just the few times I've compared the lines I know a few looked different. For OP's case, it does certainty seem like a "slap it on" who cares situation.

I went from a stock 03 turbo to a 9 turbo and it required the j-pipe and oil drain.

Did the Evo 8 turbo spool really quick with the MIVEC?

Thanks everyone sounds like it’s a option for me to replace it. This is definitely a slap it on who cares how it performs type of deal.

nah.. not noticeable

putting the 9 turbo on with the same tune, it had more boost instantly across the whole range.

That looks like it could be pulled and repaired. There are some pretty amazing body shops these days..
