Mahle Piston Ring Gaps
Mahle Piston Ring Gaps
Greetings!
We are assembling a 85.5/stock stroke 4G63 for the first time.
Our target is 400 BHP with an 8000 rpm redline.
We received our Mahle pistons after nearly 6 weeks...look quite nice with rings/pins.
We checked the gaps on all the rings:
With the results of:
.015 seems a touch tight...
Mahle's instructions talk to turbo with a calculated .020 gap. But the spec seems at the bottom of the page for serious powerplants - which ours is not.
Any experiences/suggestions?
Thanks.
