Tranny input shafts

Hi everyone,
Has anyone posted a way to distinguish between evo 8 and evo 9 input shafts?
Thanks!

I just took a closer look. Is this the difference?
Evo 8:

Evo 9:

The evo 8 input shaft 1st gear is cut deeper into shaft.
can anyone confirm this?

Also, evo 9 has the larger diameter (as expected since evo 9 has the taller 1st gear).

Can you show us the difference between the 4th gear of the evo 9 and the thicker 8 one?

The best way to tell is by counting the output gear teeth and divide by input gear teeth. Then look up on Jack's Transmission gear info table. Here is evo 8 4th gear pics (33÷32=1.031 and cross reference with https://www.jackstransmissions.com/b...on-gear-ratios ):

I don't have any evo 9 4th gears available to show. All have been converted to evo 8. Sorry.

Evo 9 is taller first, it will have more teeth for first gear on the input shaft..

I will check again later but I recall counting 14 teeth on both input shafts. I counted 39 teeth on output evo 8 and 41 teeth on evo 9. The input gears should have less teeth if it is taller. The output, on the other hand, should have more to be taller.
