Valve guides leaking?

Hey guys. Long story short I had a bent valve (and burning a little oil)

This one seems ok

so I refreshed the head on my evo 8. A few hundred miles after I started burning oil bad. The head has supertech guides, dual springs, the correct smaller guide seals. Looking into the exhaust ports it looks like the oil is coming from in-between the guide and the head. Has any one else had this issue? It is a head built by boostin performance.

Hey Mitch

Seems like a simple leak down test may prove whats going on?

Cheers, Joe

What do you mean by "refresh"? Did you replaced the bent valves yourself? Did you also replace the guides and check the valve diameter to guide clearance before installing?

I originally did a leakdown test and was leaking through some valves. While diagnosing the leaking valves I noticed the oil washing. I disabled the head brought it to the machine shop. They lightly cut the seats and and faced the valves. Only one exhaust valve had a slight bend. I reassembled the head with new seals. A few hundred miles later.... smoke! The pictures I posted are from after the head was redone. All the new seals were installed dry and seated just fine. Should I have lube the valve a little for first start up? I had oil in the intake also and I know it wasnt from pcv. I removed the pcv valve and vented to a catch can.(no oil) I also have 2 -10an line venting off the valve cover and have never had any blow by. It has got to be the seals!? Right?

Slight bend could have damaged the valve guide. Do a leakdown as suggested and see what it tells you.
valve guide and valve may need replacing again
