Evo 8 9.8t turbo charger upgrade options

I was thinking about getting an evo 9 turbocharger for my evo 8 but I don’t really want to lose the fast spooling characteristic of the 9.8t hot side my question can I buy and upgraded core for the evo 8 turbocharger and maybe and large compressor wheel so I get the best of both? Thanks

Many of us, in your situation, are running the FPHTA71 (price has gone up, that is for sure)

Would that work with my 9.8t housing? They are around $1000 new I believe? tuning doesn’t come cheap! might have to keep a look out in the sale section for a second hand one. Thanks

10.5 (stock 9) is still you're best step up. I doubt you'll notice any spool difference from the 9.8 and you'll love the extra power if its properly tuned.

the 2005 EVO8 turbo could be another option. It has the 10.5 Hot-side but smaller colder side like 2003/4 evo 8 has. its kind of a mix between the 2003/4 evo 8 turbo and the 2006 evo 9 turbo.

Agree with DontStopMe, you wont notice the spool difference.
