Evo 9 transmission to block dowel pins are preventing install
I have about an 1/8 inch gap between both points where the dowel pins go into the engine block. The top two bolts are in flush at the top and the pin closest to the front has the bolt tightened seemingly all the way but still has the gap. Haven’t engaged the tob yet, removed the tranny for exedy twin. Wondering if anyone has any ideas. Been sitting like this for a couple days.
was it painted? sometimes paint makes it tough for the dowels to go in.
pull it back off... clean up the dowel holes...
try again.
dont force the tranny on by tightening bolts
this messes stuff up.
you should be able to get it to flush up just by hand

gonna attempt to put it in later today
Update:
Took transmission and clutch back off to move the metal plate the better align with the dowel pin holes. Put everything back on and now the front pin will go in, just not the one closest the the transfer case.

lol yes I know, I replaced the plate already and had to realign the dowel pin holes because it was hanging low 1/16 of an inch
Something it's definitely not right here. Dowel pins and holes shouldn't need to be realigned nor hang any amount lower. Do you have someone that can take a look at it for you?
second pic is the first pin thats in
