Engine cranks but doesn’t start

Hi,

I’ve got some voodoo magic going on in here.

Stock evo 9. Not the most driven car but I drive it once in a while. Last month used as my daily car while I was doing some work on my actual daily car.
Yesterday I had to move it around the garage, went to start it and surprise surprise the car cranks but doesn’t start. Picked the second key just in case there was some problem but same luck.

-Checked all fuses> all good
Connected evoscan and scanned it:
- Absolutely no DTC to be found.
- activated fuel pump and could hear it loud and clear
-while cranking the engine I can read live the rpms and injectors on the evoscan but what I cannot see is any signal or number in the crank sensor box.

summary:
The car was running fine, I used it, parked it and the next time I came to start it this happened OUT OF NOWHERE.

In my evoscan should I see values in the cps box changing while cranking the engine?

Check fuse for I think its ignition. Its a red 10amp fuse under the steering wheel, That is what happen to me and it was that fuse.

Had already checked all the fuses in the car but nevertheless I checked again te one you mentioned and replaced it for a new one. I would say the old one was… not corroded but certainly not as good looking as the new one.

Cranked the engine and it made kind of an attempt to start but wouldn’t maintain idle. Finally cranking it and giving some gas it started, lots of smoke at first (guessing all the unburnt gas in the cylinders from previous attempts) but after seconds as good as usual. Let it reach operating temp and no issues whatsoever. Turned it off and started it several times and all good as if nothing had happened.

Will let it sit for 24h and see if it cold starts at the first touch of the key or if it need more cranking than usual.

I think this car is starting to behave like it’s Italian brothers in the garage: Out of nowhere issues that fix for themselves.

Have the car ever been tune? If so, your motor sounds like it flooded with too much fuel. To test it, unplug your fuel injector and if it start with the injector unplug, there is your problem.
