Yeah I get that. With hooked to boost controller I was barely seeing 5psi at almost 5k or just over. I'm going to see if hooking the 3rd port back to the intake pipe will give me same results as either the way it was hooked to boost controller or straight off compressor

When you ran the wastegate straight to the compressor housing, I'm sure you should have seen full wastegate pressure boost before 4k RPM.

FP black and single scroll, no mivec. It's probably about right. 20psi around 5-5500.

Most FP Blacks i read about on here are on strokers in order to add some lower torque to make up for the lag.

I'm having the same concern as with the OP. Here is a quick video:
'

My research says: fp black single scroll is supposed to build full boost before 5k rpm but in actuality it only starts to build 1psi at around 4.6k rpm. This is also a 2nd gear pull, no brake boost. I wonder if this is normal??

Second gear isn't going to build boost very quick, especially for a larger, laggier turbo. You will see better results in 3rd.

Ok so i just dropped my car off for a full tune. And my tuner is still concerned about the lag. Car still boosts around 5k to 6k rpm. He mentioned swapping out the bov to see if that's the problem. When i did a boost leak test. I could only get to 20psi without my tester popping off. It would drop roughly .5 psi every 2 to 3 seconds so i don't think its a boost leak issue. I did have to have the motor past TDC otherwise it wouldn't build any pressure during test

How far past? Any chance the timing belt isn't on right?

Timing is correct. When i was setting the timing i had issues aligning the cams, i had lost my timing tool kit, so I ordered a new one and set timing with that. All marks were lined up perfectly.

I had to rotate the motor roughly a half tooth to a tooth for it to build pressure.

I don't think anyone has said this but check to see where your wastegate opens. Sounds like its to loose and its bleeding out all the air. I would take the wastegate arm off the turbo and see if it just falls on the wastegate arm. If so theres your problem, no preload on the wastegate arm.

I have a external wastegate, 18.8 spring setup. I tore it apart 3 times to insure it's not binding or being stuck partially open.

Lol Idk how I missed that. Was a long day yesterday sorry about that. I know with my turbo the shop said I hooked it up wrong, but I was divided t4 and your single scroll. And I agree with Kaj if its not spooling till 5k you have a major leak either exhaust mani or turbo gasket something along those lines where none of the exhaust is making it to the turbo. I would check for cracks in your mani and or if you haven't already replace the turbo to mani gasket.

That's where my dilemma is. Everything is brand spanking new, new fp black, new fp manifold, new tial wastegate ect. All new gaskets. I'm completely stumped what the issue is.

Prior to refreshing the motor and upgrading the turbo setup there was no issue at all.

Have you confirmed oil is making it's way through the turbo? I've had brand new FP turbo die due to seizing. I had the same symptoms as you. I suspect oil wasn't getting where it was supposed to because everything inside showed evidence of overheating.
