Previous owner made a swap from 6 to 5 speed manual gearbox in my Evo IX. I need to change synchros on it but guy from the store told me that I need to determine what "type" of 5 speed gearbox it is since there were 2 different variations of it. He told me that the difference is in first, second and reverse gear. First and second are sold as a set. The problem is that I cannot determine what type of gearbox I have from VIN number (it shows me 6 speed gearbox) and I dont have any contact with previous owner. Does anyone know if there is serial number or code visible on gearbox case? I don't want to remove it before I'll have all the synchros.
