Exedy Hyper Evo Clutch MH01SDX
Exedy Hyper Evo Clutch MH01SDX
Hi,
Has anyone tried this specific clutch?
https://www.exedy-racing.com/en/prod...single-evo-en/
So many options for clutches and hard to decide, if anyone has a recommendation from first hand experience, please share.
Just looking for a street single disc clutch preferably with a flywheel that can handle 400lbft and that doesn't break the bank, don't really do many launches but maybe one to two trackdays a year.
Cheers
Jake

I have never run that specific clutch but Exedy makes a good product.
At a similar power level; 500whp/400wftlbs, I ran the ACT HDSS and it was great. Never had any of the issues that some others report with high RPM lockout or anything. The only reason I switched is because I cooked it when I increased my power level.
Looking at the cost, you could almost go twin disc for the price of the MH01SDX? This will have a lighter pedal but be very drivable.

The MH01SDX is currently on sale in Japan at a very decent price which is why I'm considering it, my initial plan was just a Exedy HD clutch, seems to have good reviews and would work for my application just fine.
I probably could stretch the budget to a twinplate but I just wasn't considering it as it seems overkill and not too keen on the rattles etc.
With the MH01SDX on the sale price, there's a pretty significant gap to a twin plate but yes at retail, it would be a no brainer
Edit,
ACT isn't readily available in New Zealand so I'd have to import it which makes it alot more expensive

I have this clutch in my civic, its great, holds 500+whp no problem. However at this price point i would absolutely do a twin disk. Actually i’m from the thought that if that trans in an evo has to come down, only a twin disk should be installed, dont waste your time on anything else. I got about 30k miles from my exedy twin and no complaints
my replacement is a Uniclutch twin for the evo which is a fairly new release, i cant wait to have the car ready for it

The specs look promising and its a reputable company so I wouldn't have any hesitation in running it.
If you aren't going to make a ton of power that clutch should work well.
I had a 6 puck act around 400wtq and it flat shifted wonderfully. Went to 500wtq and it was killed quickly.
Installed an exedy twin and with two different transmissions and adjustments it still doesn't shift well but it will hold the power I'm making.

Interesting that you are having issues with the exedy twin, mine has been great but I also don't track my car or anything.
