engine ticking under 1krpm
i own a 2005 airtrek turbo r pretty much the same engine as the evos and before the ticking sound started there was a whining noise under 1000 rpm and i thought that it was just a belt but then it started ticking and low oil pressure light came on but the car only ticks and shows low oil pressure under 1k rpm what could this be? is my engine ****ed? also sorry if my grammar sucks english is my third language
Sounds like you might have low oil pressure? I would suggest a manual gauge to check it. That ticking could be lifters because of low oil pressure to the head.
I had the low pressure light turn on but was able to verify with my manual gauge that oil pressure was fine and it was just the sensor.
Get a pressure reading with the car warm and report back.

ok will do is there anything else that can cause knocking sound under very low loads also the engine was struggling to idle when i came to a stop it would drop down to 500rpm and almost shut off
I had the low idle issue with my car for a while and finally got it fixed replacing the MAP sensor. Are you running a stock or aftermarket MAP; and if aftermarket, which one? The onmi's are known to be weird from time to time.
I keep seeing people talking about these, maybe its time I finally grab a set lol.

I'll have to get a set and try them out. I have had just terrible results with every thing I have tried. Appreciate the response!
What has worked for me in the past is marvels mystery oil. Do an oil change and drop a qt of that in with the oil change and it took the ticking away. Ticking lifters is just the lifters are dirty from bad oil getting sick and clogging the lifters. Try that next oil change and it should work.
this issue was resolved after spark plug change and the engine is ****ed it still runs but the bearings have gone to ****
Ok that is a good start, but I would look at better oil quality over thicker oil. Second thing I would do is look to see what may have caused this wear. Oil pump failure, like you said bad oil, neglect of oil changes etc. Once that has been determined id figure out if its just bearings that need to be fixed. If all the surfaces are ok and the bearings are trash then throw a good set of bearings in the car get some GOOD oil not that Brad Penn stuff and call it a day. Brad Penn makes good break in oil and makes from my experience ok oil I would put it up there with Vr1 as a middle of the road stuff. That is just my opinion and my experience so that way people wont get butt hurt about things lol.
