Oil pump failure, like you said bad oil, neglect of oil changes etc. Once that has been determined id figure out if its just bearings that need to be fixed. If all the surfaces are ok and the bearings are trash then throw a good set of bearings in the car get some GOOD oil not that Brad Penn stuff and call it a day. Brad Penn makes good break in oil and makes from my experience ok oil I would put it up there with Vr1 as a middle of the road stuff. That is just my opinion and my experience so that way people wont get butt hurt about things lol.
thanks for the advice

Unless you know the motors history that to be is a bad idea. Will it save some money yeah maybe but bearings aren't that expensive and to get that thing to someone who can rebuild it knowing that it has new bearings in it, you mainly know the history of the engine, you have driven it x miles before this failure, you have taken care of it for the most part, that to me is worth it. To put a low mile engine in a car possibly without knowing its history and its service records is a gamble and could possibly lead you right back where you are. Sure engine has low miles, but if say you don't know where it came from who is to say the person before you didn't beat the living **** out of the car and say ate the rings or possibly didn't change oil on normal cycles and what happened if he changed something and the thing overheated? Seems petty and all but to me its worth it to build something of my own that I know the history of.

Yea I find it hilarious when people say they found a good low mile engine. Well how do you know its good without knowing the cars history or tearing it down? Id much rather purchase a 100k mile engine out of a car with perfect maintenance records and known mods than a 20k mile engine I have no idea about.

Right, I mean name one person who owns an evo who doesn't beat on it? Name one? Low mileage or not that thing has been beat on and unless you have the service records that says its been taken care of and there is absolutely no damage done anywhere I am not buying it. Bearings, crank if its scorn can be polished out, check of the rings or even new rings is cheap, check for scores on the piston walls, thrown it back together and its like a new engine with 0 miles on it really. And you now know the history of this engine starting from this point. I mean to me that makes the most since. Quick fix isn't always the best answer specially when it comes to these cars.
