X Clutch twin. This is my second flywheel from them, I don't know specifically what is causing my issue. I've probably been through 10 starters or something ridiculous like that. I don't know enough about starter engagement to know how bad this is it whether it's just indicative if the starter not making enough contact. Either way, I'm at a loss. Engine has a total of about 4k miles on it which is hasn't been completely dialed in so long cranking for starts was usual.
The first time I was having this issue, I replaced the flywheel and starter plate. After 1 or 2 starters that is and the issue went away. I'd rather not buy a 3rd flywheel. I'd have symptoms of it hanging up and kicking back while turning it over as well as the grinding. New engine to trans dowel pins as well, same deal.
Please someone just tell me I'm being stupid and it's a really simple fix ....lol
This is the specific kit.

Reason: Adding picture of clutch kit.
I had issues with a parts store starter doing similar things to the flywheel as well as sticking to the flywheel after the key was disengaged.
What have you been using for starters?
I've used a combination of OEM, and various ones from different part stores (Autozone, Oriellys, Napa, Advanced you name it ). Even tried ordering remanned one for a completely seperate retailer.

Hmm, well I don't know then. I returned my parts store one and went with an OEM one and everything has been fine since. I have an exedy twin though so a little different.
Take your oil filter off. Cut it open, verify theres no bearing material in there. You could also use a pry bar and gently pry on harmonic balancer to check for play.
