exhaust manifold

hello,

i got a question, im thinking of getting one of the exhaust manifold; im considering to get either the JIC or the Borla exhaust manifold...but im not planning to upgrade the turbo anytime soon though...

i have these mods: cat back, downpipe, intake, bov, ebc, and street tune dynoflash.

oh i will be getting a UR high flow cat too though

so the question is, should i get the exhaust manifold or not? is it worth it ?

anyone can predict how many whp i am now? thanks for the help and info. No flaming pls =)

if you want on for the extra flow, then why not ge the stock ground out. it would be quite easy for a machine shop and woun't cost half as much. i think ther are a few that have done it and seen some good gains. you can do the same thing with the downpipe i think. you could do it yourself if you had the gear!

Probably wouldn't flow as well as a true equal length header, though. I see 20psi to redline (7800) with this header and a 3" turboback, for whatever that's worth.

Your not gonna get that much more power with a true equal length tubular manifold. Your lookin at the neighborhood of 5-10whp on the stock turbo. You will depending if its true equal length gain some spool time to full boost onset (about 300rpm)

If thats important to you get it.

I just like the way it looks

Yep, get it....
Have a JIC header in my car...feels great, even exhaust note seems more "solid."
Be prepared for the high temps generated by aftermarket headers. Some guys say not to worry, but....yeah you'll know what I mean.
Currently have DEI insulating tape wrapped around radiator hose as a "band-aid" fix.
Looking into fabricating a steel heat shield...we'll see if its feasible.

yeah...i believe, however, that there was a reason mitsu had a heat shield on those manifolds.
using my senses, it just feels really hot in that area..and this was just driving "normally" for about 30 mins...
like i've said, some say not to worry... but its my baby, so I worry and react to stuff like that.
to be fair, though, i've never heard of a story wherein a radiator hose blew, or that something in the engine went wrong because of the heat generated by those headers.
its up to you dude...
performance got me to install those though, so....screw the heat, ha, ha

Yeah thermal coat it, however I really do not reccommend jet coating. There stuff flaked on my car twice. Since then I used these guys http://www.thermaltechcoatings.com/
they are local and there stuff is awesome.

They can even coat the mani in that ceramic silver glossy finish without fading. Jet Coat lasts about 2 days until it turns dull grey. Thermal tech uses a higher silver content in there coating and they sandblast each piece by hand vs Jet Hot that uses a chemical to strip the metal. This in the long run makes the coating less durable.

I noticed a dramatic decrease in under hood temps when I coated my manifold and turbo with the thermal tech
