Who has or knows anything about the NX Intercooler chiller kit
Whats up
Im looking into gettin the nx intercooler kit. Ive heard so much **** that it works good it dosnt work good, its safe its not safe, And u have to change the fuel pressure and blah
My Evos pretty new about 5,500 miles with intake n bov. I understand what the kit does but can some1 give me a heads up if its worth it or not. I can get the kit for 100 new w/ no bottle which i allready have a bottle so its a steal. If any1s got good info please let my know.
Thanks,
Eric

Here we go again,
This has been one of the hotest debated topics on here. I think Most of the gains from n2o getting ingested in to the intake. I know MACHV had dyno showing large gains, but I would like to see the same dyno using co2. I don't think it would be that signifigant.
If there is still a big gain with co2 then why not just spray your intercooler down with a co2 fire extingiusher before you run. Better yet go buy some co2 bottles from a paintball place and rig something up.

Except that CO2 doesn't break down under heat like N2O does. And carbon dioxide doesn't burn.
It takes 2 N2O molecules to break down into 2N2 and O2.
Well I am a physicist, and I can make a few comments about this (although it comes mostly from experience with IC sprays). I have one in my other car (supercharged GT with a FMIC), and have done a lot of track testing with it. I've tried both CO2 and nitrous, and I've tried spraying both before and during the run (via a WOT switch).
I was dissappointed with the results. My trap speed were virtually unchanged in all of the runs. I think one problem is that because there is so much air blowing thru the IC, most of the CO2 or nitrous takes heat away from the air, rather than from the IC. When I tested it standing still, the IC was covered in frost. So I thought it might be better if I also spray before I run, to freeze up the IC. This still didn't help my MPH.
I agree that the improvements some people are getting with nitrous, is due to it being ingested into the engine. I know of cases where CO2 was ingested and it totally bogged down the engine. Also, last time I checked, liquid CO2 is colder than liquified nitrous (its cheaper too).
Some people more knowledgeable than me say that the cooler air would allow you to run more timing, and that's where the power gain would come from. But trying to tune this IC spray set-up on the dyno would probably be a tuning nightmare.
