Only boosting 16 PSI?

I have a Perrin boost controller and have been running that unit in my car for months. It was set at 20 PSI and I've never had to mess with it. Until today. Some guy in an Accord was egging me on and, well, you know. But, the car felt slow and I didn't pull as hard as I should have. Look at the boost gauge, 16 PSI tapering to 14/15. Nice. I just cranked it back up to 20 but why a loss of boost all of a sudden? Do the springs in these things 'give'?

Does nobody care that I lost 4 lbs of boost overnight???

Seriously, give me some ideas as why this happened. Please? Oh, and the Perrin MBC has a locking nut on it so that it won't dial out with vibration. The locking nut was tight when I went to turn the boost back up.
