Playing with stock boost solonoid = 21psi boost

I was playing around with the stock boost solonoid and by chance found this "pill" everyone talks about. I rolled it a bit inside the tube. Now I believe this is the reason my car is holding boost at 21psi to redline. Please correct me if I am wrong, but if the solonoid controls the wastegate opening to control boost, if the pill were even smaller then the wastegate would open even less??? i believe that I have cocked the pill just slightly and changed the flow of vacuum/air in the line. Please comment.

great find, but I wouldn't use that method due to it might clogged the whole vaccum passage to the wastegate and overboosting and blowing up your precious motor.
There is a beter way of achieving higher boost and holding it------MBC or EBC.
$40-$500 or $$$$$ for a blown up motor?

I have never seen it go over 21 psi. As a matter of fact I have never even noticed a boost spike at all. Only a steady climb, then hold at 20 to 21psi. I have an MBC, but did not put it in because of this discovery.

The boost control solenoid acts as a bleed valve and "vents" pressure back into the intake. It works like this, if im not mistaken, the tee fiting joins the nipple form the pressure side of the turbo (outlet) to the wastegate actuator, which works on pressure not vacume, and to the B.C.S. the B.C.S. vents pressure back to the intake pipe to recuce the ammount of pressure the wastegate actuator sees and therefore keeps the actuator closed longer resulting in higher boost.

So what your saying would not make any sense if you managed to turn the pill sideways in the tube because you would be blocking the line to the B.C.S and therefore causing the actuator to open the wastegate sooner. Even if you managed to rotate it just a little, it should not result in higher boost, but i guess it might be possible. Removing the pill all together allows the B.C.S. to vent more pressure, thus increasing boost.

Better check your lines and make sure you did not put a whole in one of them while fiddeling with the pill, cause if it rips under boost the wastegate will not open.

if you take it out, its smaller on one side and wider on the other, mine is removed but that is because i replaced the hose when i put an mbc on

mad_VIII....thanks for the insigh. I checked the lines and couldn't find any leaks anwhere. I pulled and rolled the lines to look for holes. I guess I just have FREAK for a car. Reguardless, it rocks.
