K&N Drop-in and 2 Piece Underhood Bushings!!!

I just did both of these this morn. I got a nice difference from stock. The K&N was easy to install (obviously). It made a nice sound difference and now you can hear the stock CBV under a decent amount of boost. It feels like it pulls a little bit more also. As for the bushings. I didn't remove the battery like the instructions say to because I've got a very complicated alarm/remote start/turbo timer in there plus I have all my audio settings in my 13 band eq stored and I didn't feel like writing it all down and having to reenter it so I took off the factory strut bar instead. The factory bushings came out like cake. The bottom metal bushing went in without a problem, but that top small one was a B*&$#!!! It just did not want to fit. Finally after a half hour of coaxing it, it got it in. Buttoned it all up and try it out. Awesome. There is no more notchy shifting. They shifter just goes right into gear. I'm more than pleased with these mods and would recommend them to anyone.

Under what type of driving / shifting force are you refering to? Is the shifting feel better during durng normal city / around town shifting? I bet it would feel better during racing conditions, but I am more interested in the everyday, driving to & from work mode.

thanks

I actually did these two things the other day also and you can feel the cable bushings difference just sitting there moving the shifter around. You can feel the effects at all levels of shift effort and speed. They are great and worth every dollar. They took me about 30 minutes to install. With the K&N drop in, I went one step further and took a dremel to the airbox lid and cut the top out leaving the edges so it would reinstall with the factory clips. I also left the factory snorkel intact to try and get some cool air still flowing in there. Do that and you can really hear the valve blowing.

Does your shifter go all the gears, including reverse, smoothly? I had the solid cable bushings in my 98 GSX and it felt like glue going into reverse and 5th gear. It felt like the shifter cables were binding. There wasn't enough slack to let the cables move with the shift linkages at the tranny.

That's funny because I just did both by cable and shifter base bushings. I am also doing the stainless steel clutch line and removing the restrictor. I will be finishing the clutch line in the next few hours, once my boy goes to sleep.

I have not driven the car yet, but just playing with the shifter while parked seems to feel a lot smoother than before.

Arrrgh!!! I'm pissed! I just went to install the underhood bushings, only to find out that they sent me 2 small replacement bushings, instead of one small and one large one. Dang it! Nothing like wasting an hour of my time. I guess for now I'll be driving with one metal and one poly bushing.
