AMS Under hood shifting bushings
AMS Under hood shifting bushings
I just got the AMS under hood shifting bushings installed and WOW!! It gave the shifter a more positive feel, a more precise shifting feeling. The factory shifter should have came with these bushings. To be specific, I have a 2010 Evo X and the horizontal bushings are quite bigger than the 2008, so be sure to get the Non U.S. version. I actually enjoy shifting in this car now
. The vertical shifting bushing is a pain to get out.
I have the shifter base bushings, but I didn't install them yet. Hopefully they will make as big of a difference as the under hood shifting bushings.

no probs here. AMS bushings also. i changed my bushings a few months ago and wondered why did mitsubishi put such crap on a high performance car....shifting feels so much better...
well I just tried installing all 3 from AMS (base+gate+underhood)
base was easy and made a nice difference to shift feel...
gate and underhood were a lot harder.
I found the AMS gate bronze piece was a bit short and actually left a lot of slack in the gate selector, so I backed out the bronze about 1mm which fixed that.
the underhood bushings were ****house... I went back to stock since they seemed to add a LOT of slack to the feel of the shifter.... i only did the vertical one since the horizontal was the wrong size - apparently AUDM needs the same bits as the 2008 USDM and not the 2010 USDM (or euro)...
so all in all it was a bit of a waste of time doing underhood bushings...
AMS need to redesign them or something :| I could wiggle the shifter bushings around in the shifter cable... bah!

I installed both the underhood and gate selector bushings on my friend's 08 x
the underhood bushings are definitely a PITA but not that bad...I didn't notice any negatives once installed slack was no worse than the OEM bushings
the gate selector bushing however I agree...the fit is not very good...even after tightening the bolt with the bracket clamped in a vice there was still decent slack
I just assumed that was part of the design

I did the AMS underhood bushings in a friends car. It went perfect. The bushings look cast, so I don't see why you would have issues.
That said, TWM Performance's underhood bushings are way better than the AMS ones. I even have pictures of them side by side, if anyone want to see.

Stock is the rubber one, Bronze is TWM and the ones in the bag are AMS.
Note that the AMS is for a 2008 and the TWM is for a 2010. (Hence why I had both... oops)

nah there are two sets of bushings.
2008 and 2010 (the 2010 horizontals are much bigger than 2008)
I am AUDM, so I was told to use the 2010 bushings (even thou I have a 2008/2009 AUDM MY)
However thats not the case I require the 2008 bushings.
ON TOP OF THIS - I found the AMS vertical bushings (Which are the same amongst all MY's) arn't a very good fit and appear to be much looser than stock.
Golden - do you have any measurements of the TWM gear?
