116 octane race gas

Is there a general idea of how much leaner you can go with the exact same setup but with 116 octane race gas?

12:1 should be safe, along with 22psi of boost.

It's not so much about going leaner. With this much octane you can turn up the boost.

Sorry to bust in, but along those lines can you run leaded race gas on occasion without messing up O2 sensor?

you can run leaded gas without killing your o2 sensor but the more times you use it the more it will shorter the life of your o2 sensor.

12.1 -12.5 on 116 is pretty ideal area to tune with . Also taking your boost up to around 23-24 on the stock turbo can unlesh some serious power

People waste SO MUCH MONEY on high octane fuel! I am running 12.5:1 A/F ratio and with boost starting out at 25 psi and dropping to 20 psi by 8000 RPM with zero knock on 105 octane unleaded race fuel. I could probably do the same on 100 octane unleaded. I wouldn't run 116 octane unless I was planning on running 35+ psi on an upgraded turbo system.

the reason id go with 116 is just for feel goods.

i dont wanna press my luck running with the minimal allowable octane, and risk something getting messed up.

I said it was Ideal not that u need to run116. That **** is very spendy!!!105 is good enough for pretty much anything. Highest ive used in my evo was 104 Sunoco. Dylan as long as you tune your car right there will alway be a good feeling with your setup on certain octane. After 24 psi on the stock turbo all you are doing is blowing hot air!!

Running high octane fuel will let you: add ignition timing advance, lean the air/fuel ratio, and run higher boost levels...

VP racing fuels has "MS 109" unleaded race fuel. It is 101MON 109 RON for an AKI octane rating of 105.... but they name it after the RON rating Sells for $5.75 a gallon here. If 94 octane ever reaches $2.88 I will stop buying pump gas all together and just run strait race fuel all the time.
