Clutchmaster stage 3 or Exede twin plate?
Clutchmaster stage 3 or Exede twin plate?
hey guys. I need a new clutch. when im done modding my car it will be less than 350 wheel horse power so i dont really need the exede. But what do u think. Im currently around 290 to the wheels. when im done porbably 320-330 to the wheels.
Should i get the exede twin plate, exede single plate. clutchmaster stage 3, or another clutch?
i dont have much cash so that plays a role too.
I can get the clutchmaster stage 3 with installation for $1,100 exede twin installed for about $1650

the exedy twin disck looks sick, and should be a great setup for street cars. they installed it on project evo in sport compact car, and said it was great, was somewhat slippable while still being graby and not much more than stock pedal effort, plus its stilla sprung hub so it shouldnt rattle too much. (dont beleive everyhting you read ina mag tho). they said RRE installed it, e-mail them and ask them thier thoughts on the clutch.
ACT clutches are also great they can set you up with an organic setup which will be very streetable but if your a track junky or like to abuse the clutch alittle step up to a puck ceramic setup (sprung or unsprung) but be prepared for the first time you take off, it will grab. youll probably stall!
CM seems to work good, ive just seen better quality clutches, and i dont think kevlar is the best choice for an awd vehicle, I dont know why nobody looks but i think CM stage 4 would be a better choice than the stage 3, unlles youll be happy will no more than 350whp.

i have the cusco twin disc and believe that the exedy is the same way.
i have no problem in bumper to bumper traffic. and it holds all the power. I just need more power to test it out. it engages pretty fast in first and reverse thats about it. everything else it engages almost like stock.

Find someone in your local area that has an Exedy twin or ACT and give there cars a spin. A local guy that had an ACT tried my twin disk and he really liked it. I wasn't able to stick around and try his ACT for a comparision though.
