Waste Gate Solenoid Placement – Blitz boost controller

I just installed the blitz electronic boost controller in my car a few days ago.

First off, sweet unit, im still tweaking things but I really like the functionality.

I cant wait to get the optional harness to monitor other ECU parameters.

Anyway….

I made a bracket for the waste gate solenoid its roughly 4-5 inches behind the turbo right next to the down pipe

I’m concerned that the heat will cause this thing to fail. It was too hot to touch last time I ran the car

Should I re-locate this unit, or will the extreme heat not bother it? I could always try making a heat shield

I’ve herd that having the controller any further then 6 inches away from the compressor and wastegate actuator will cause boost spikes etc.

Any suggestions??

I would relocate it, I had mine mounted directly below the air box, where the stock wastegate was at.... worked fine there

I actually looked around for places to install my sbc-id solonoid last night. i found that the factory location seemed to be the best place to place it. i also found an alternative if you actually wanted to custom fabricate a bracket...you could place it behind the left front head light. I am not sure about the Electro-magnetic forces that the solonoids give out...it might cause some problem with the headlights? i dont know...ill let you know if i end up placing it there. quick question: so are you guys just removing the factory solonoid from the vehicle completely? any CEL's?

You will get a CEL if you remove it completely. I have mine on the bracket i fabricated. I do think I should move both of them to avoid failure! Thanks for the reply

Move the stock unit to the metal arm that is sort of over the transmission housing, you can't miss it. Then mount the Blitz unit where the stock location is now. If the holes don't line up, take the whole bracket off and drill new holes in it for the Blits unit. That is what I did for my E-boost.
