Hey guys,
I removed the HKS EVC, rewired the vacuum, the car drivers just fine, but won't go past 10.5psi. I am assuming its running right off the spring and the vacuum is not even being read, or something to the effect thereof.
Any suggestions? I played around with vacuum hoses even - did absolutely nothing, boosts at about 10.5.
Boost is very steady; it does not float around, definetly not a vacuum leak, rather a controlled limit.
Not sure what it could be, any advice really apreciated!
Thank you!

reset the ECU..... They put in a UTEC to replace the EVC.... running on stock settings... I actually tried another selenoid from another EVO.... I dunno about the wastegate

Tested 2 solenoids, same result.
Have not tried a manual BC yet - nor think that it will resolve anything.
Very inclined to say that the WG is stuck because of the very sharp 10.5 limit, seems to be mechanically restricted rather than vacuum controlled due to a leak or improper pull. Its a very sturdy 10.5 hold and it does not flactuate, hence I am thinking its the WG. Also, there may be a slight chance that the solenoid may not be getting electricity to the connector, have not checked for that yet, but thinking that it will throw a CEL on?
Apreciate the replies!

It really sounds liek a waste gate prob. Are you running a stock WG? Some EVO owners experienced defective OEM WG which were warrantied.
Also, I am curious if your EVC was on or off when you tested it? If it was off, then you can only boost to the amount the wastegate opens which is around 10- 11 psi.

i am on a stocker.... I got a very early evo.... with the EVC I was boosting to 20.5 psi, now w/o (taken out, put the UTEC in) it its doing only 10.5-11....
if you say the wastegate only opens to 10-11 psi then that really does sound like the issue.......

the utec isnt the issue btw.... for a day I was w/o the EVC or Utec and did the same thing
if it is the wastegate....its just coincidence I guess that it happened now just when the EVC was taken out....

it would seem strange that with the EVC your car was running great then just remove the EVC which has nothing to do with your wastegate and now its locked up. its possible , but would seem more likely the parts you put back on were the culprit. maybe reinstall the EVC and see if all runs well if not. then more likely wastegate. if you unplug the soledoid it should throw a CEL light.
Ok, I will go ahead and throw this out here but I am sure I will get flamed
My friend smoked his #3 piston on his Mk4 supra because when dynoing they had a faulty boost gauge. It was showing 21 PSI when they were actually doing pull after pull at 34 PSI.
So are you sure it's not your gauge?
I am sure you checked this, just throwing it out there.

yea Im pretty sure...I an feel it, plus I have a Blitz turbo timer with a guage that was showing 140 kpa before....which is well over 10psi..... now its @ 80-88kpa.... plus I have a defi boost guage that reads in PSi and its reading 10.5-11.....
so 2 boost guages, both saying the same thing and one that worked and was on before the EVC removal..... but thanks you
