K&N "Drop-in" not a drop-in?
On a related topic, yesterday I removed the black louvered baffle on the hood vent. After I removed it, I noticed I could see the airbox snorkal thing plain as day. I popped it off in 2 seconds and could clearly see my K&N drop in filter thru the opening in the side of the airbox and thru the hood. Seems like the BOV and turbo whoosh is louder now. For those of you who remove the top of the airbox, what keeps the filter in place? Also, do you guys think removing that louvered baffle poses any problems or improvements for intake airflow (as long as I don't drive in the rain)? Theoretically, I'm sucking in hot air from engine bay instead of cooler air from the edge of hood....but I assume there's a lot more air zippin' around, thru, past, in & out of the engine compartment now also.

the ralliart has the same problem i think, but all you have to do is turn it the other way and it will fit perfectly... it seems odd to put it in that way, but it is the only way it will fit.

My RalliART filter dropped right in. I didn't really notice any gains, but being as minimal as they may be, you won't notice it really...I just order teh APEX I induction kit with power filter. The filter alone yielded 3-5hp, so the induction kit should really help out...anyone want a RalliART filter...$50.00 + shipping and it's yours!!! Barely 3 months old...
I wanna say I remember reading on one of the Evo stores that the HKS unit needs to be replaced like the OEM filter. That didn't make much sense to me, but does anyone know if it can be cleaned like the K&N?

**not the cone types, like the racing suction. NOT**
yes it can be cleaned like a K&N. I don't have pics of that, but I do have pretty much everything else here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=90598
it scares me that enthusiasts wouldn't know that a foam air filter must be oiled!
the drop-in filter does not need to be replaced like the OEM paper filter. it just needs to be oiled before first use and then cleaned and re-oiled every 5,000-10,000 miles. or far less, if you do any dirt activities.

Oh and to the starter of this thread, I can almost gaurantee its upside down.
