Centerforce Clutch (Vendors check this)

Centerforce just released their Evo clutch. Who has it and how much is it?
"Centerforce is proud to introduce their Dual-Friction ® clutch assembly for the new 2003 and up Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. The patented Dual-Friction design uses custom carbon fiber composite organic facings and a precision-engineered ball bearing pressure plate. These features enable increases in vehicle power without a heavy pedal or detriment to vehicle components. Centerforce has optimized its Dual-Friction for the Lancer’s AWD drivetrain and additional power enhancements. The Dual-Friction provides more power handling and improved clutch engagement, while retaining daily drivability. Centerforce is now taking orders for part number DF618088. Please contact Centerforce directly with questions about Centerforce or their patented technologies at 928/771-8422."

I'm going to have to agree with you. Back in my 5.0 days, I must have know 20 plus guys that tried them in their mustang and thought they were caca. My best friend had one in his stang and ditched it after only a couple of miles. It chattered like hell!

Chattering was the biggest complaint out of all users I talked to about it.

Hopefully they have stepped up the QC of their products. I would still be curious as to how this one performs in the EVO.

I wonder if it includes a flywheel??\

I put a dual friction in my 96 TA with about 360 hp....it worked great. They make good clutches. Maybe they don't work well with imports??? I never had any problems especially with slipping. I guess we are talking apples and oranges though.

Centerforce clutches are excellent in quality. The dual-friction version was hardly ever broken in properly, therefore it led to chattering, slipping, etc.. Im very curious to see how this set-up turns out. I will see if I can contact them and talk them into sending me one to try out and post up about it.

I wouldn't waste your money on the centerforce clutch. I used to sell and install them on Hondas. They lasted to about 5,000miles then had problems shifting and going into first gear. Not to mention slipping with anything over 200whp,I ended up replacing tons of them .

I have sold 100+ Clutchmasters clutchs and they have been awesome, many to friends with no problems at all. Not sure about the CM clutch in Evos.

I've run a Center Force Dual Friction clutch on my Talon AWD with great success. Never had any transmission or center diff breakage. When the time comes for my Evo, I'll get a dual friction clutch.

Must also vouch for the Centerforce Clutch on my 96 GSX. Very smooth yet more than enough clamping force. Remember to match clutch with driving style and sensibility. I for one would be willing to try the CF for the evo.

I had a centerforce dual friction in my 87 GT mustang. Raced 3 years with it (on slicks), then swapped it out to my 91 5.0 notch mustang... and my cousin has been driving around on it ever since. That would make that clutch about 6 years old.
