Greddy type S and Air conditioning = funky idle

Hi,

I have an Greddy Type S BOV and still trying to adjust the 'Screw' for the pressure of the springs.

I notice I have this problem where the car's idle will dip down to almost stalling when I have the air conditioning on. Coming to a stop sign or stop light and it will happen. Not always but it's there.

Any answers, suggestions, tips?

Thanks

Yeah, this may sound like a dumb suggestion, but drive the car with the A/C running for a day or two.. My car idles crappy with A/C running and really hurts drivability.. It even did it when it was stock.. I realized that I rarely use my A/C and have reset the ECU several times.. so I decided to drive to work for two days with the A/C running, the idle finally stabilized.. But when I put load on the engine (just off idle) then put the clutch in and brake, the car stalls.. It did that occasionally with A/C running when the car was bone stock..

I'm not sure if your venting to atmosphere or recirculating.. But recirculating it just requires a bit of adjustment on your BOV.. if your venting to the atmosphere, the stalling won't go away if you load the engine enough to blowoff and then immediately put the clutch in and brake..

Basically the MAF sensor's airflow stalls, therefore getting a very low reading, the ECU responds by leaning out the mixture in an attempt to correct what it thinks is a rich condition, which in turn causes the RPM to drop.. If the Idle RPM were a little higher, it would catch itself and not stall, but with the A/C running (or with a lower restriction intake MAF pipe) the Idle is already a little low, and it just stalls..

Actually do a search.. there's a few posts specific to quirks of the MAF sensor and how it works.. which are directly relevent to what your experiencing.

The bad news is theres no real cheap or free "Fix" for stalling other than making some limited adjustments to the idle which likely won't help much.. There's MAF conversions, but their not cost effective if your trying to cure a stalling problem, their designed to provide less restriction on higher performance engines and mods..

Try to give it a few days of using the A/C and see if it gets better.. It seemed to help on my car after driving it around a bit.. (I noticed my LFTrims took a few days to adjust, and ended up at about 15%, thats a pretty significant adjustment)
