LISTEN UP. I have your answer. I DID have this problem myself. I took it to my local dealership and they knew what it was. There is a upgraded 5 gear for our cars. They took out the tranny and replaced the 5th gear as well as the sycros because once it starts griding it screws up all the syncros. They replaced the 5th gear and all the syncros under warranty {free} Just make sure you tell them to be extra carefull when putting ur car back together. When they did mine, they didnt tighten the suspension correctly and my controll arm broke and did all kinds of damage. But the 5th gear thing is fixable. good luck.

Thumbs up

Just got back from my dealer and they said it looks to be the syncros they need to call Mitsu. Tech line to see if this is a common problem then they are getting back to me in any case they said it is covered...It feels good to know that Mitsu. is finally standing by there product. I will keep you guyz posted on what happens. What you guys think about changing the clutch at the same time I have 4,500 miles on it? My stock clutch feels perfectly fine but if I already have the whole car apart should I buy a new clutch I was looking at the Exedy double plate but I wanted to wait till my stock clutch died out....Any Suggestions???

By the way in regards to the clutch...I do and dont have the money....so if it really is worth doing it now the platic can be used if not I would rather wait and pay cash when the stock one dies out on me....

Will a short shifter void the warranty for the grinding??? I have BR4 and I hope I don't start getting problems because I don't think MIT will warranty anything on my car. All the problems going on here scares me. MIT quality is too poor!!!!

Remember just because you add aftermarket parts it doesnt void ur warranty they have to prove that the part u added caused the damage. I can not say anything bad about Mitsu warranty wise as I havent had a problem with them yet just hope it stays that way...as I will degf. be purchasing another EVO prob. a MR in the future...
