Anybody here Boosting 24 - 25 psi on stock internals with Intake, Downpipe, Catback and Boost Controller?
I want your opinions on this...
Is it safe without proper tuning? Would the stock block, stock ECU and the injectors handle the high boost?
Wouldn't the ECU do a Boost Cut if its over boosting? What is the boost cut on our ECU's?

20psi on pump gas is the recommendation. However, if you do a lot of other crap, you can run 24-25psi on pump gas, but that would be with water injection spraying after a big intercooler.

It won't hold 25psi til redline, probably drop off to 21-22. 20.5 is on the upper limits of the stock turbos effiency threshold, above this it starts making really hot air and with the stock intercooler you'll probably loose performance due to detonation and the ECU pulling timing.
I run 24-25 with race gas once in a while. I also have a HUGE intercooler and I've ported my turbine housing and cleaned up the O2 housing and exhaust manifold.

the turbo can peak much higher then that (like 2.3bar if rebuilt with a bb core). take a look at this thread to see what you can get one to do.

its the engine that you need to watch! i would definatly go for forged internals. you could run it on pump gas (93 min) but i would use a big intercooler and water injection (even water/methanol). also do a search for alternative fuels or addatives. i read a thread a while back about a guy thats mixses xylene (i think) with fuel at a 20% ratio. he says it really makes a difffrence. there is a guy in the UK that has bin doing it for 4+ years and he says he has had no problems. i think you will need to map for it though.
i think shapeGSX is running a stock EVO turbo (not sure which one, might be one of the earlier ones) and is seeing 26psi from it. cant remember if thats holding to the readline or not. may also be on the larger, earlier evo trubo!
also speack to MalibuJack as he is building a very nice, resistance free setup that could produce some nice power and torque!

First, no. It is not safe without proper tuning...
Proper tuning would have to include monitoring at least these three things:
- Actual measured boost (an accurate boost gauge)
- A/F Ratio (a wideband O2 sensor)
- Detonation (through a knock headset, knock sensor, or at least an EGT gauge)
If you attempt to raise the boost to 24 psi without monitoring at least those three things, you're flirting with disaster.
The ECU "overboost" fuel cut is not based on a particular boost pressure -- it is based on airflow, specifically the reading from the MAF sensor. If the ECU sees too much air going into the engine (high MAF reading), it will cut fuel to avoid boosting too high or running too lean.
with the crappy gas in CA, i never even really use my boost controller because I am too afraid of damaging my motor, I just use stock boost as most, and sadly enough, I can still beat more cars out there with just that LOL.

What if I upgrade to a bigger Injectors, high flow Fuel Pump, high flow Fuel Rail and an Intercooler with a more cooling power, plus replace the head studs?
Would that do the trick of boosting to 24psi to redline safetly?

hey archiebabes, hope you dont mind me asking a question in your thread, but will the stock ecu handle 20psi without tuning?...like will it run fine and tune itself for that much boost?...whats stock boost on the evo?
