That taper is for the donut gasket to sit in. I am not really sure what the smallest diameter of that taper is though. If I ever take it off again I will measure it...

Would it be better to port and polish the inside of the manifold and just ceramic coat the outside ?

Porting and polishing the inside and then ceramic coating BOTH the inside and out is the ticket. Polishing up the outside is mostly just bling bling...

The problem is finding someone who can properly blast the inside of the runners. You need to blast the surface with 80 grit aluminum oxide for best results... for most high temp ceramic coatings to adhere properly. I'm having that problem right now with the tight radiuses of my stainless manifold. Everyone can properly prepare the out side, but those with the tooling for the inside are few and far between!

Ps, this old man is a little lit, so work with the grammer...

Zeus,

What kind of manifold are you using? I was thinking of going with DNP...

BTW people,

THe ti 10.5 16G is said to spool around 2500 to 2800. Bad boy beltran had the ti 15gk TME turbo. He reported spool up almost 1000 rpm quicker than the stock 9.8 inconnel if I remember correctly...

Are you sure 1000RPM's sooner that the stock USDM EVO turbo? That sounds way too good to be true!

compared to the DNP...

They appear to use the same manufacturer with the SS being about $200 less expensive.

Zeus,

They appear to be SIMILAR...to my eyes anyways. Check out the bosses. The ones on the DNP seem to be less thick. Also, the DNP's welds aren't buffed out, whereas on the other they are...Maybe it is the same, I don't know.

Also, is there a link on where to buy the cheaper one? THanks.

Upon closer inspection, you're right about the welds. However, looking very closely at mine, the welds are in the exact same place (same lengths of tubes used). Also, the two different pictures with the bungs present an illusion... they are the same size it seems.

Zeus,

Does the exhaust mani you have come ceramic coated? I'm asking, because some coating places are advertising a 1300 degree coating called ecta-chrome (or something like that). You mentioned it was hard for a place to ceramic coat the inside of this manifold? Perhaps the dnp is less "smooth," thereby making coating it easier? Let me know on your progress regarding the ceramic coating on your mani. Thanks.

No coating offered on this one... naked stainless. Hence the reason I'm looking for someone to do it properly.

The 1600 degree coating your talking about goes by the names HiPerCoat, Sterling, Chromex, Cermakrome, etc., etc. I'd be weary of using anything less than a 2000 coating on a turbo charged application though (most advertise that the 2000 degree cuts temps more). All those companies also offer a 2000-degree coating (less attractive) that would be more suitable for the high heat. Yes you could, and many do use those successfully, I just tend to feel more comfortable with a wider margin.

Why don't you use Perfomance Coatings 2000 degree ceramic coating? That is who I used (see the link at the first post in this thread) and it has held up great so far. They also offer several different colors. They were also very reasonably priced. They have a fast turn around time. They offer a warranty too.
