The downpipe and cat were both bone stock on the car. This was a catback test only.

Love to see the results with the entire system on the car.

Dave,

I'm very interested in the Magnaflow version of your exhaust. Could you or somebody comment, on how to build an exhaust system from the muffler back? The stages I would like to go are basically 1.) a catback then, 2.) replace the stock cat, then 3.) replace the downpipe.

Can your exhaust system be built up this way?

Thanks,

jcnel.

I think you'd first buy their SCCA Legal catback, which has a flange that bolts to the stock cat. I would probobly do the downpipe and high flow cat/test pipe at the same time, and you'd just cut off the flange and use their slip fit clamps. I'm not sure what other options, they can do, but they are flexible in general if you let them know.

Thanks, that is some really good information. I suppose I feel kinda bad that I'm not as flexable because I 'live' currently in Utah, and have 'very' limited resources for tuning avaliable, when the parts are ready to be purchased. There is a good SCCA crowd around, so I can kinda bank off of their support.

Now...if I got the SCCA Legal Catback now, how much (if any) 'tuning' would I have to put into the car right now?

Thanks,

Cheers,

jcnel.

zero really... just bolt it up and enjoy the bump in power and tone... and then the greed for more power will slowly take over and you'll be buying the downpipe and test pipe before you know it...

Not wanting to sound 'too' technical, and picky...yet will I have any problems with my Air/Fuel mixture? I live at fairly 'high' altitude and like to keep the car in a 'good' state of tune...

When I change something its usually backed up with a tune along with it. Yeah...I'm kinda picky in this regard, but I have probably some better tuned sportbikes because of it.

Cheers,

jcnel.

High elevation usually means you are going to have to tune the car much leaner than we normally would. Wait, not leaner, just have to pull a larger amount of fuel out to get it to normal AFR's. Make sense?

This can be done easily with the AFC.

Thanks Dave,

The feeling I get is it seems I'm in need of an EVO tune after getting the cat-back. I was kinda hoping the stock EVO programming wouldn't be 'too' far off, and I could run a cat-back...but after modding four new vehicles the only ones that seemed to run 'right' after the muffy. install were a couple of 4 cyl. sportbikes with just slip-ons on them.

Also...part of my justification is I don't want to run the EVO richer than it already is set at. I assume a high flowing muffy system is probably going to make the equation richer.

Thanks for the great info. tho!

Cheers,

jcnel.

Yes, you can get the SCCA with Magnaflow for $450, not shipped for $470, it would be $505 with shipping, oversized and two boxes.

You do not need a re-tune from just an exhaust change on an EVO.

I am running the magnaflow...with no kitties and I love the way it sounds. I was afraid it might be too loud, but not at all. And stupid silencers to deal with-yeah!
