couple of dumb questions:
couple of dumb questions:
how similar is the 4G63 between previous Evos and the forthcoming 8 - not only the engine itself, but also its layout
so, will existing aftermarket products like intakes, downpipes, exhaust etc made for the Evo7 drop into the Evo8?
also - forgive me if I am wrong, but I don't see a boost gauge on the Evo7, (or any other Evo) am I missing something?

Yes they do not come with a boost gauge. Adding one seems very common however, and they are easy to come by: HKS,Ralliart,Greddy all have offerings.
Since the Evo8 is a tweak/update of the Evo7, I would guess that they share many parts, so many of the current stock of Evo7 aftermarket parts will work in an 8. But, until someone gets their mitts on a production Evo8, who knows for sure... especially with the rumors of the U.S. model having a different drivetrain.

PToast - thanks
more dumb question
how about boost controllers, injectors, & fuel pumps? Also, have the evos traditioanlly used aftermarket ecu replacements or piggybacks. I am coming from the RX& world where replacement is very, very common, but very few of my friends with sylvias, wrxs, 300zs etc replace their ecu... have units from Apexi, AEM, and other manufactures been available in Japan for previous Evos, are is the stock ecu good enough?

Do they have REV limiter and Fuel cut-offs in the states too? Here Japan, we do...so just about everybody at very least gets a sub-ECU (piggyback)Plus, all production vehicles are governed back down to 280ps as max power output. (sorry I don't know how much HP that comes out to... 250~260 I think)
I bought a full ECU because if I ever get the money to buy a JUN engine then my ECU will be versatile enough to handle the engine and any additional mods....Most sub-ECU's are good upto maybe 2nd stage tuning but after that, you have buy a module for this and module for that...HKS is notorious for this kind of thing.
I purchased a FC POWER by APEXI and COMMANDER and boost controller kit. I have had no headaches so far and very easy is to use.

cool, I didn't know the Apexi PFC was out for evos - it isn't on their North American website
I have an PFC in my fd, and I really dig it... hopefully Apexi brings in a whole line of products once the Evo hits our shores
