LOL.. 199mph??i never said i was planning on getting there.. i just need a better way to get my speed...

you guys just arent seeing it

IF 8600 Rpms equal 190 mph and he reached 8600 rpms that means...
I personally wouldnt think an evo could hit 200 mph but if i saw the tach hit 8600 in 5th gear then i would have to believe. For you guys saying he only hit 176 mph at 8600 is stupid. He wouldnt accelerate and all of a sudden just stop at that speed while having the revs still climb. If the revs climb more and more, than he was going faster and faster. If the revs stop, then thats your terminal velocity because the car no longer has enough power to accelerate to a greater speed.

if 7300 in 5th = 165 mph, 176 @ 8600 rpms just wouldnt make any sense

I would never think my car would be capable of 185 plus but if you did that... damn

Video and gps will prevail

u know what... the evo speedo doesn't even read past 170 for how do we know what he hit?... i mean if all you guys are using is a math formula then blah blah blah... Until its done in real life then it don't mean crap... if all you guys believe in a math formula then hey my chevelle with a 6-speed richmond tranny will do 250+....

make sure ur tires dont have too much pressure in them when doing this, they expand with heat, which of course you know. no one wants to read about you in the paper. be careful.

Just remember the MAX rpm you achieve. Then, slow down to exactly 1/2 of those RPMs. Ex: 7800 achieved - slow to 3900 rpms, look at your speedo, then double the MPH. Whalla! Presto!: That is the speed you achieved. There is NO mystery to it and no math formulas to think about.

The math and logic are so simple that even I can do it and I was a history major.

Hey props to you rollaway and please be careful.
And for the rest of you that don't live in the real world....How many cars have you seen that break the 200mph barrier?...How much horsepower do these cars have?...I can tell you they have alot more than rollaway's car... they're also designed with those speeds in mind...I now everyone wants to feel good about the Evo going 200mph, but the reality is that if you could push a stock bodied full weight Evo to 200mph it would take over 1000hp.

Hey Gerard, you sick bastard....... I can verify to the fact that his clutch is not slipping, I installed it and its as solid as can be. If you did hit 8600 you can figure you were going very close to 200 if not exactly. As far as the Evo is concerned I do beleive that 200mph is possible when you consider that his car is making no less than 520 crank hp. The fastest cars in the world can get there with good aerodynamics and under 500 hp, like the 911 tt, previous gen Viper, etc.. Hey Gerard, is that why you called me up yesterday? sick bastard!!!

im still still thinking along the lines of less than 190... the GSXR 1000 stayed side by side with me to check my speed last sat/sunday morning to confirm my speed of 180 through his speedometer....but that was less than 8600rpms... ive hit 8600 at a previous time when i was with 954 Double R and he told me his bike topped out at 175... i had a good distance in front of him....

Yeah Gil that was one of the reasons I called you

Can you somehow manage to aim the camera at the cluster AND egt gauge? I'd be interested to know how hot it gets from being in boost that long.
