evo though...it has twice as much hp and add to that, its awd...meaning its not DESIGNED to launch...in other words, the strain is heavy on ur clutch and ur drivetrain (meaning ur gonna spend major $$$ on ur clutch and ur tranny if u keep that up)....

Only problem with clutch is that it seams to engage at different positions of the pedal depending on gear. 1st engages near bottom and 2 & 3 considerably higher up. Makes for strange shifting and extra sliding.
Will this improve with removal of the flow restrictor in the hydraulic line? Any other adjustment that can be made?

i've have to replace my tires, breaks, and rotors from wearing down and still haven't had to replace the clutch at 21k. Never launched the car and i think that is the biggest factor because i beat the hell out of the damn thing everyday.

Some blow at 5k stock, some blow at 23k modded to 22 PSI, it's nothing but a crap shoot, period. Please don't talk launch, that's BS. I 'v e had numerous high performance cars, pushing way more than stock config, and they handle it like Marines, who haven't got ***** in a year during they're first day in combat fighting soldiers that are on the fat body plan just so they can stay in the service. And please don't bring up driver error, that's just grassping fo air bro. Please, just once and for all, accept that the evo is not the end all be all, and we'll B OK. Everybody's got issues on the earth, and cars don't stand outside the box.

. Also, if you have much more HP than stock, the clutch wont handle it well. However, if one follows GOKOU's recommendations, the clutch will last a long time even with more power. What I found out was that the stock cluch itself is not bad, but the stock pressure plate appears to be on the weak side. Even after my clutch got to slipping so bad I had to change it, the clutch disk itself still looks good and has lots of friction material left. The problem is that the flywheel is glazed. All this would indicate a weak pressure plate.....
If anybody is replacing the clutch and expects to continue driving as usual, I would strongly suggest upgrading the whole enchilada, otherwise you'll end up with the same situation in a short time....
The evo clutch is not that bad. It has a 2200lbs pressure plate and the disk has copper fibers in it opposed to nylon fiber that other OE clutches have. It's the restrictor in the clutch slave cyl that is giving the evo clutch a bad rap.
