Do you get burning smell after reving over 4000 RPM

Today I only rev it up 4000 rpm at take off, didn't even take off cause of the stupid lights weren't working, anywhere, after reving at 4000rpm smell burning immediately, I used drive a civic w/stock clutch used to rev it up to 6000 7000 all the time, never had this issue. Are all your cars have the same issue? I did accidentally rev up to 8000 once while racing, (no flame here) anywhere do yall think that was the cause? Is it possible something got burned from the inside of the clutch? I remember back then when I took to my friends shop, they had take look at the clutch, they claim somehow the "rubber" inside got burned? do yall what rubber are they talking about?

u know...theres literally thousands of topics out there regarding this issue...
anyway, think about it...civic = weakass ff car...of course clutch can handle it....
evo though...it has twice as much hp and add to that, its awd...meaning its not DESIGNED to launch...in other words, the strain is heavy on ur clutch and ur drivetrain (meaning ur gonna spend major $$$ on ur clutch and ur tranny if u keep that up)....

so I guess we should only rev it up at the track right? Once in a while if someone is down for racing on the street, I guess you can rev it up a little bit? how long does this stock clutch last and how many revs can it take?

there isn't like a set # of launches u can do before clutch/drivetrain goes out (cuz everyone's launch is bit different) but i can tell u that evo can't handle too much of those...if u really wanna save ur tranny, slip the clutch (but ur clutch is going to go out real fast)...dont jus drop the clutch or theres high % of ur tranny (specifically syncro rings) breaking...(ive had personal experience with this one)

ROFL, my clutch went out at 2,000 miles with a good 40 passes at the strip, all with VERY hard launches. I believe the clutch passed all my expectations.

If you're slipping your clutch alot and smelling it burn, it won't last very long.

If you don't feel the need to launch it regularly, it can last quite a bit of time. I'm at 328 WHP / 312 WTQ and I'm still on my OEM clutch at 16,000 miles.

i think you need to learn how to launch a AWD car... FWD car the clutch wont burn as much because all that energy will go to the wheel spin.... on AWD cars, you either have to do quick slip because the wheels have so much traction the energy will either hit your clutch or your transfer case.....

... you probably feathered it way too much...

you should feather and drop. I used to slip and it would have that very organic smell. I would lift off about a hair and drop at 6000 to 7000RPm, picks right up around 5000rpm.

Did about 6 launches on a deserted parking lot at 4 in the morning.

didn't smell a thing.
