Intercooler Upgrade Jerking at 5k at WOT

Hi, I just installed the Greddy V Spec Intercooler upgrade for the EVO8

My problem is when I go WOT after it hits 5k the car jerks and keeps on jerking.

I have the Buschur SAFC2 Settings, do think the problem is with the SAFC2 Buchur settings?

I have the follwing mods, Intake, Downpipe, Stock Cat, Cat Back and MBC set at 20psi, and SAFC2 with Buchur Settings.

It was ok, when I first test drove it, then when I turned a right and hit WOT the car at 5k jerked.

Anybody here is having the same problem with the Greddy Intercooler?

I need all the help and tips I can get.

Thanks guys...

Does it feel like a really harsh jerky like hitting fuel cut? Do you have a boost gauge? Is it over boosting? Maybe you have a leak in your piping might want to check for least that will cause it also

I have a boost gauge and its set at 20psi, the problem ocurs at 5k at WOT but when you gradualy apply pressure to the accelerator it doens't jerk and hits 20psi of boost to redline.

It only happens when I step on it, I also checked all the ic hoses and they are all tight fit.

Do you think I'm hitting fuel cut? Its maybe the SAFC2 settings, anybody here with a recommendation?

Try writing down your Buschur settings then setting the AFC to all 0's. See if it still does it. If not they its your settings. If it still does it then i would still say its somthing with the piping leaking? Thats the only thing you have changed right?

it sounds like fuel cut. you'll need to get something to remove it, dynoflash offers an effective solution for 79.99

Why is it hitting fuel cut? I tried to also set the SAFC2 settings to all 0's and it still does that at 5k WOT.

What is the advantage of disabling the fuel cut? Would it hurt the motor? Im only boosting 20psi to redline via 91 pump gas.

Is there any alternative besides dynoflash that can disable the fuel cut.

How about the HKS Fuel Cut Defencer?

Thanks for the help guys, I realy appreciate your support.

mifesto,

I've already set all the SAFC to 0's its still doing it at 5k at WOT

The first time I test drove it, it was running fine, pulling hard up top, after I took a right turn thats when it strarts to bog down at 5k at WOT

I have no idea where the problem is coming from?

Did you check for intercooler plumbing leaks?

Its probably not fuel cut.. Temporarily drop your boost to 17 psi or so, try it again, if it goes away its probably a misfire.. Change your plugs to a colder heat range.. Remember better intercooler means denser air, denser air means more in the combustion chamber, if you haven't ugpraded or changed your plugs in some time, the spark is probably getting "Blown out"...

Oh, and the buschur settings may be a little too lean with 20psi on 91 octane.. Though I still suspect your problem is plugs (a misfire).. If you haven't changed your plugs, you should do it anyway.

I wouldn't think it was a fuel cut either... I agree with the plugs possibility.

Thanks for the help guys, should I just change to a NGK plugs? The NGK BPR 7ES EVO 8 Turbo Spark Plugs?

Here's the description:

These cooler plugs are for use with the Lancer EVO 8. The 7es is a good plug for the your EVO 8 to help prevent detonation under high boost. We suggest you change your plugs every 3-6 months to ensure a correct spark under high boost. Fits all Turbo Lancer EVO 8

I already have 6.5k on the car, maybe its time for a Spark Plug Change.

I turned down the Boost as you said to 15psi to redline, but it still bogs down at 5k WOT

Do you guys think its a fuel cut or a spark plug issue?
