Crank Angle Sensor(Problems)

Went through two crank angle sensors in the last 2 weeks.
first one went just so....no warning nothing. all of a sudden while driving(driving fast), the rev dropped to zero. After about 5 seconds the car cut off and refused to start.
while taking out the sensor now we discovered that the thin metal plate that runs through the sensor was warped and was cutting the sensor.
Also the big bolt that goes through the pulley(the lowest pulley) and also goes through the plate was slackened already.
so we changed the plate, tightened the bolt with loc-tite and put everything back up.

A week after it happened again while circuit racing.same thing happened.
taking out the sensor we realized that the bolt ran slack once again.u could have screwed it off with ur hand.

Trying to figure out what is happening?

any ideas

I figure when the bolt runs slack, the pulley starts to wobble and hits the thin metal plate causing it to touch the sensor lightly and begin to cut it...

my crank angle in the morning is bordering on vertical, for the rest of day it's pretty unpredicktable. since i don't have anything useful to add to this thread i'll just quit after this horrible joke.

No idea, but I've seen a couple of other posts about problems with the crank angle sensor being caused by debris. In both of those cases, a bolt or similiar object had slipped down the beside the timing belt and needed to be retrived by the crank pulley. I think in both of those cases (I believe) the offending debris was removed before the car was run, but there were still problems.

Any chance you are running with your cam gears or lower pullies exposed?

May be getting crank walk, cause on some of the older dsm's this was one of the symptoms for the crank moving.
