Cams will make you lean?

I am just curious about something.
I had buschur turbo-back, mbc, stock intake box, fuel pump and mail-in dynoflash for those mods.

I added 264/264 HKS cams the other day. Now I sent my ecu for re-flash but like I said, do you think I was running very lean before I sent the ecu for reflash?

I know all the mail-in flashes make you little rich to be safe so in that case adding the cams will made me just normal or even leaner?

I drove the car like that for about 100miles or so... sometimes pretty hard but not more than 6000rpm... so full boost all the time.. now i am kind of worried if i had hurt my engine??
It didn't sound like it was pulling timing...

any inputs?

thanks,

Memo

i thought this same thing but your maf will match the air with fuel! you might hit fuel cut sooner but it should not make you any leaner! the cam is also for fuel too!

yes of course cams will net you a leaner AFR without retuning...simple physcis The longer you keep the valves open, and the higher up they lift, the more air enters the combustion chamber.

I am sure you'll be ok with 264/264 without the reflash in the short term...just try to get the new ecu in there as soon as you can!

thanks Adam!

I sent my ecu for reflash but I was very curious. The car didn't feel like it was pulling timing with the cams... i guess it is because flashed ecu is already set for 11.0 or so which is little rich for extra safety.. i guess with the cams the safety part was removed....

Im in the same situation ,custom tune for 11.1 AFR...

But was wondering how much it will change the AFR?? maybe... 11.5?

ANy ideas...going to get reflashed soon but waiting for my intake and will do it in one shot...

I think you will be ok. I had HKS 264 cams with the stock fuel pump, testpipe, axleback, cone intake, 21-20 psi, no fuel tuning and the a/f was below 11.5 from 5200 to 7200rpm in 3rd gear. PM me your email and I can send you my a/f graph with the above mods.

We've put in 264 tommei and hks cams with stock ecu and no problems. Remember with the maf the ecu recalibrates itself. Using autronic or motec we had to retune
