1. Not too expensive
2. 580 hp
3. Ok daily driving

Hmmmm........ Maybe you can have any 2 of those but definitely not all 3 Personally, I think given the 580 hp, you are pretty much sunk on both of the other requirements. That puppy is never gonna drive like stock or even close and it will not be cheap either.... Sorry.

A twin or triple-disk carbon clutch?

I have a twin disk Exedy clutch. It's OK for driveability although it takes some skill to drive it (will stall if you don't feed the gas and modulate the clutch just right). I will take some high power but I don't think it's rated for 580 hp..... It was $1200 and I guess you could get it for somewhere between $1200 and $1500

I would guess you'll need a stronger clutch, possibly a 3 plate unit. I'd guess the cost will be around $1500 to $3000 depending on the brand, etc.

You can also probably find a single plate clutch with the right pressure plate/disk combination to take that power for a reasonable price ($500 to $1500) but I understand that the pressure plate springs for that much power will be extremely hard to push.....

Look at all the vendors websites... You'll find prices and specs to suit all needs. You might try doing a Google search on clutch and a sub search with Evolution.

If you are making 580hp you have already spent ALOT of money. You should plan your mods to complement each other. If you are building a 580hp motor, you know you will need a good clutch. The cheapest you can get away with is an ATS carbon/carbon. Good luck.

The Cusco twin-disk unit uses a carbon/carbon steup. It's rated to hold 700 HP and is relatively easy to drive day to day. I have heard nothing but good things about it. I got mine for 1550, not too bad for such high quality.

The Cusco Twin is nothing more than an Excedy twin that costs $300 more.

The disks are supposed to be carbon instead of cerometallic (or something like that). Anyway, they are the same clutch but some folks say the disks are a different material. Definitely the Cusco is made by Exedy. It's written all over it. I've seen it with my own eyes. BTW, I have the Exedy twin plate. It grabs good and the pedal effort is close to stock, but it definitely does not drive like the stock clutch, anybody that tells you that is smoking some strong crack. It's a lot more off/on and it definitely takes more care, skill or whatever to use. Also is a lot louder than the stock clutch, makes a hell of a racket when depressed (as it well should because of its design). Anyway, it's probably a very good clutch and will definitely take more power than the stock unit, it is after all a racing clutch. It says so right on the box and all over the paperwork/magazines that come with it. No way a racing twin disk clutch will drive like the stock clutch.

What about a triple or dual plate from Centerforce? It's cheap, and those can handle some hp. I doubt they'd be able to hold 580whp. That is where you'd have to spend good money for a nice race clutch.

Like someone already stated before, Do you even know how expensive it is to make that amount of power? Your plans are asssbackwards. Start with the clutch first. Spend good and plenty on the clutch and then run that monster turbo for 550+ hp. Oh, and even the best clutch will last under 20k miles with that power, if you're lucky.

lol im still stock guys, thats why im asking about the clutch, because im planning to put at least 580 + hp into it. The things are as is. Will wither get New MR in september when it comes out. Or ill stick with the 2003 model i have and work on that one. I really want to get the MR, if i trade mine in and i only get an increase of like 100 bucks the most on my car payments then definately im getting the MR. Untill then im just researching and asking around about good parts for the car. The Stock clutch on the car is a piece of crap. I got the car with 400 TEST DRIVE miles on it. So you can imagine how fried the stock clutch is. I only got 8400 miles on it and the clutch sucks. Thats the delio so far

Lets get some things straight: The cusco and Exedy are almost, but not completely the same. The Cusco has Carbon faced disks, so it drives LIKE STOCK ALMOST. Nothing like an Exedy twin. That is why it is $300 more.

Centerforce, we already replaced several failed, customers put Cusco,a nd lov ethem.

Single plate clutches are good too, like the ACT and the RPS , both rated at 500ft lb of torque, and cost around $500-600.
