Installed HKS SSQ and have a few questions...
I installed my HKS bov Monday night. After installing it I took my car for a ride to hear what it sounds like. It makes a fluttering sound at low boost and a whoosh sound at full boost. Is this the normal sound for the purple insert?
That night driving my car, it seemed kinda different. Like faster different, but I thought it might just have been me. Well on my way home from work Tues. I was just cruising along and decided to pass someone and just pressed the gas in 5th gear. I just so happen to look over and see my boost guage go up to 25psi.
I instantly let off the gas.
Now....I have the mail in DynoFlash with a Hallman MBC set to 20.5 psi. Is it possible that my stock bov was leaking and I had to crank the boost up just to get it to hold 20.5 psi and then when I installed a bov that wouldn't leak it caused the boost to be higher?
I haven't had time to turn the boost down so I've been staying out of boost while I drive. I'm just wondering if it has something with the new bov since I didn't have this problem with the stock unit.
Thanks!
Corey

I'm turning the boost down today, but still kinda confused why the boost went up 4.5psi after the bov install.
Nova....thanks, I was hoping it wasn't compressor surge.

Have you run into any stalling issues? I've heard of alot of stalling issues with the SSQV when it is VTA. What are some fixes for this problem because i'm getting my car back today and i'm going to have one installed and it will VTA.

That is what I was kinda thinking. Is there any negative effects to this happening? I put my MBC on in July (when I got my reflash) and was running around like that til Monday night.
Everything seems fine, but just want to make sure.Ruthless....my SSQV is reciculated back in to the intake. I didn't want any stalling problems. I have noticed that my rpm's do fluctuate a little at times. I've heard that it takes a bit for the stock ecu to get used to it so I'm playing the waiting game right now. I did have it stall on me this morning on my way from work. I hammered on it in 1st and went to 3rd. As I let off the gas, it died as I was pulling intot he gas station.

Thanks for the post. I have one question. what are the symptoms of an Evo with a BOV vta. I just got mine wednesday and I would like to replace the stock bov, but I wanna make sure It's done right. and if I buy a hks bov, and I want to recirculate it, who or where do I need to get a recirculation kit, or is it something I can make. thanks for the help. I'm gonna do a little searchin on here and see. but if anyone would like to fill me in that would be great.

Greed....thanks for that post man. I'll go back and check everything on there that they said to.
Venting the bov to the atmosphere is gonna make the car stall out more often. I tried it for the hell of it and the car ran fine for about 2 minutes and then just started falling on its face. It still does it, but not as much, so I need to check the things posted about in the link.
