Factory boost solenoid line to maf pipe?
i did a search but came up blank. what is the purpose of the line that runs from the nipple on the firewall side of the FBCS to the nipple under the MAF pipe?
what would plugging it off, or venting it to the atmosphere do? just never remember reading anything about it

Its the "Air bleed" line.. Don't plug the solenoid or hose itself off obviously, or your boost solenoid won't work right.. But you can disconnect the line to the MAF pipe and plug off the fitting on the MAF pipe. Its best if you don't vent to the atmosphere only because its a potential path for dirt to get into the engine, but I have had mine just sitting there since I didn't have a nipple any longer when I upgraded my MAF pipe itself. It does seem to occasionally make a whistling noise..
Did that make any sense? Basically you can disconnect the line on the solenoid and plug off the fitting on the MAF pipe.. But if you do, you might want to get a cheap filter from a radio controlled nitro engine to put on that fitting on the solenoid so dirt can't get into it.

thanks MJ ! just so i have a clear understanding, if it were capped at say the solenoid, that would keep air from bleeding out of the solenoid correct? what would this cause the solenoid to do? over boost, underboost, etc....
this forum rules! thanks again MJ.
ps- have you completed the gm solenoid conversion you were working on>

If you capped the solenoid, it would probably underboost.. since the bleeding of air in this system raises boost..
Yes, I finished the GM solenoid setup, posted photos of it in the other forum. Still working on the right resistor to run so it doesn't keep triggering a CEL.
