Question Help with BR FMIC

HelpI have taken apart the entire front end and when I got to taking out the pipe coming off the turbo, I noticed there is a hose coming off the "T" fitting thats routed into this pipe that comes off the turbo that will be replaced by BR pipe. The BR pipe I got doesnt have this adaptar to reconnect the hose to it. Do I just cap off the fitting or was the pipe supposed to have the adapter. The stock pipe has a nipple for the hose and the BR does not. Please help.

If you do a search you can find the answer to this. If I could remember I'd help you, but I couldn't give an anser for sure. I think it involves t-ing into the BOV vacuum line.

Yes thats the way it come stock. It connects to the "T" fitting that has the boost solenoid and wastegate actuator connected to it. This new BR pipe doesnt have this nipple. I was either going to cap it off or unfortunatley have to wait until Monday to see whats up. I tried doing a search and I am having no luck. Have you seen the install instructions before or someone that has posted them? Thanks

Try searching for posts by davidbuschur with the term FMIC. It's definitely been addressed.

Yeah, your talking about the missing fitting on the lower Discharge pipe.. that is your boost source for the boost solenoid, you need to connect that to an alternate vacuum/boost source (Its the line that came off the nipple on the black metal pipe right?)

Most people will T off the vacuum source for the DV (BOV) Keep in mind that the short piece of hose going to that white T connector thats already there, has a restrictor in it, so you need to use that small section of vacuum hose or your boost will be very low.. Just keep that in mind..

Just so you know, the reason this doesn't come up often is most people doing the buschur stages, have already added an aftermarket (manual) boost controller.. so they have already made changes to this "arrangement" to run the new controller.

Yes you are right.

OK, so do I need to get another fitting that will plug into that piece and then get another fiiting to tap it again in the BOV line???

As you can see I have the UTEC. COuld you please tell me the best way to do this as I normally like to follow instruction. Thanks

Yeah, you need one of those plastic T fittings from Autozone or something (Remember to get the right sized fitting for your vacuum line.. If you need to extend the line, autozone sells those fittings too (not a T, but just a joiner) that will allow you to extend the line without having to "transplant" the restrictor into a new line..

BTW, the lines are just under 4mm (not sure what that is in english standard size though)

Ok so I need to buy 1 joiner and 1 "T" with the extra hose thats a little liess than 4mm. Correct?

Then, can I tap the "T" anywhere in the line thats between the BOV nipple and the valve cover or the nipple in the intake thats attached to the boost solenoid?

Or you can do what I did. I cut off the stock nipple and braze it on to the BR discharge pipe. Even though I had already replaced my boost control, I was being kinda **** about where I got my boost source. Alot of people tie into the BPV source which is subject to vacuum under throttle lift.

Whats the negative. Can I tap into the line that connects the nipple on the turbo inlet pipr to the boost solenoid?

Actually, Propellerhead has a really good point, I actually solved the vacuum issue (when tapped into the DV line) by using a 1-way valve in the vacuum line to the solenoid.. Under pressure the valve provides a signal to the boost solenoid, under vacuum it closes and provides the full signal to the DV..

The BEST option is to get the fitting back on the discharge tube (I really would like to do that too) but this way works too..

I had to dig out this diagram. As you can see there is only one place provided by the factory configuration that provides a boost source without being subject to vacuum.

As MalibuJack suggested, for the factory "bleed" style boost regulator it's probably fine to tie into the line leading from the "surge tank" (aka intake manifold) to the BPV.

Thats not a boost source.. Thats basically a source for the solenoid to discharge a little air without it "Breathing" outside air..
