1.1 to 1.2 BAR (stock)

I live in Arizona, run crappy 91 octane (except once a month when I feed her 101 unleaded) and I just recently got my Boost and EGT gauges installed. I am running 1.1 to 1.2 BAR which is roughly 15-16psi...I know the thin air is contributing to this, but any other reason why I an not hitting 19-20psi that the stock EVO should be running? What are typical boost levels for stock EVO with no boost controller? Any suggestions. I am checking all the turbo and intercooler plumbing lines to make sure there is no leaks, but from what I was told by a close DSM friend, it is not anything to be alarmed about.

I live in a relatively cool climate (Asheville, NC) but I have noticed that on "hot" days here (82 degrees) that the boost is lower than on cooler days. I think the ECU, and to an extent the temperature of the intake charge, limits boost in hot environments. I don't know if it the the whole cause of your readings, but I'd guess that at 100 degrees, a stock Evo is going to see a lot lower boost.

Anyone from Texas want to chime in?

Can you give some more detail on what type of gauges you are running?

It won't hurt to tighten up your intercooler pipes. Drop the lower splash shield to get the lower pipes.

you're running 16-17.4 on 1.1 and 1.2 boost accordingly

Typical numbers are 19 for a stock evo.

Check your hoses like someone said...do you have an aftermarket BOV?

i hate EBC for that same problem you are having. You tend to sometimes have to do more tech work...where an MBC you just set it and forget it.

Another thing to check would be all the inner cooler, BOV , and throttle body clamps. They seem to be pretty loose from the factory and may be leaking.

I am running GReddy gauges, electric, not mechanical. I was thinking that if there was any type of leak, that the numbers would not be consistant...I am still going to have the piping/clamps looked at when I take it in to Mitsu next saturday...I am running the stock recirculating valve. I figured it wouldn't run at exactly 19psi stock...not many people were when I read through old threads...

Just curious, did you get the GReddy gauges with the memory and warning feature?

Before I put in my MBC my car was boosting close to 1.4kg/cm2.

Here's a conversion chart for kg/cm2 to psi:

1.0 kg/cm2 = 14.22psi
1.1kg/cm2 = 15.64psi
1.2kg/cm2 = 17.06psi
1.3kg/cm2 = 18.49psi
1.4kg/cm2 = 19.90psi
1.5kg/cm2 = 21.33psi
1.6kg/cm2 = 22.75psi

1.1 - 1.2 is definately low for stock. It could be a leak like these guys said. Possibly IC pipe clamps or a leaky BOV.

I went out the garage and tightned the upper intercooler piping and BOV clamps as best I could with a phillips screwdriver and then a rachet...I couldn't get to some of teh other ones, but I will need to get the car up in the air. I wll do that tomorrow. Is too tight gonna cause a problem?

2nd, where does it spike. 19psi with out BOOST CONTROLLER??

Where does it spike with the BOOST CONTROLLER? My question is, whats the max boost psi the turbo can handle with NO INTERNAL upgrades. Just the basics, Inatke, DP, exhuast, DV

Check the rest of the clamps. If you still are boosting low, you may have an issue with your stock boost solinoid or your diverter valve. I had a similiar issue as you did. It drove me crazy... I had replaced my vacuum lines and my diverter valve and still no luck. I recently replaced my stock boost solinoid and whoala! 19 PSI spike.

How much was the boost solenoid and Mitsubishi will have that part in stock at a dealership? Thanks...

I ordered the part from Mitsubishiparts.net for $32.02. The part number is MN143213, VALVE, EMISSION SOLINOID. This is located under the airbox. I'm not sure if the local dealer would have this part in stock.
